Alabama

• Madison County Small Claims Court Information

Alaska

• Alaska List of Judicial Forms – Hint do a Crtl+F search for “SC-1” and you will find the small claims forms.

Arizona

• Arizona Courts – Nice list of documents to fill out for your small claims court case.  But different procedures for filling out and filing forms depending on your county.

Arkansas

• Small Claims Court in Arkansas – Great pdf with an outline of the process in Arkansas.

Colorado

• Colorado Small Claims Court Forms – Also here each court only hears small claims cases at certain times.  See this link for more information concerning those times.

Connecticut

• Great Small Claims Court FAQs from the Connecticut Judiciary website

Delaware

• Delaware actually does not have a small claims court.  Instead, cases are heard by the Justice of the Peace (sounds kind of like the Wild Wild West doesn’t it?)

District of Columbia

• The District of Columbia Courts have a nice section on helping our small claims parties.

Florida

• Having trouble finding information on Florida as a whole.  Here is a nice website by the Pinellas County Florida Court regarding small claims court actions.  Again, as in most states, the procedures for your particular county may vary from these).

Georgia

• A brochure by the Atlanta Legal Aid Society outlining the small claims court process in Georgia.

Hawaii

• Brief outline to small claims court procedures for Hawaii as well as links to a FAQs brochure and commonly used small claims court forms.

Idaho

• A list of forms used in Idaho small claims court proceedings.

Illinois

• The Illinois Attorney General has a nice outline of the small claims court procedures there (interestingly enough, they allow representation by an attorney and encourage you to hire one if the other party has retained an attorney).

Indiana

• A good manual in PDF format.  Note: Dated 2005.  If anyone finds anything more recent, please let us know.

Iowa

• Iowa Judicial Forms and a guide to representing yourself.

Kansas

• Brief overview of the Kansas State Small Claims Court Process

Kentucky

• Guide to Small Claims Actions in Massachusetts.  Note: In Massachusetts, there is not a separate “small claims court,” but rather a special session of the District Court (but it does offer the same expedited procedures and administration).

Michigan

Minnesota

• A short guide published by the Missouri State Bar Young Lawyers Division outlining the procedures for small claims courts in Missouri.

Montana

• Guide to Small Claims Court published by the Montana State Department of Justice

Nebraska

• Nebraska Online Legal Self-Help Guide to Small Claims Court

Nevada

New Hampshire

• Information on filing a small claims court action in New Hampshire as well as a brief overview of the small claims process both published by the New Hampshire Department of Justice.

New Jersey

• New Jersey Small Claims Court FAQs published by the New Jersey Judiciary

New Mexico

• While it appears New Mexico does have a small claims court, we are not currently aware of any guides or informative sites for this state.  Please contact us if you are aware of any.

New York

• New York City Small Claims Court has a great guide for information on representing yourself.  New York has a limit of $5,000 (not the generous $7,500 that Californians have).

North Carolina

• Legal Aid of North Carolina publishes a Small Claims Court Guide geared toward small claims parties.

North Dakota

• A short detailed brochure detailing small claims court procedures in North Dakota published by the North Dakota Attorney General.

Ohio

• A great guide to Small Claims Court in Ohio (geared toward Hamilton County so be sure to research differences for your county).

Oklahoma

• FAQs regarding small claims court published by the Oklahoma State Bar.

Oregon

• Oregon procedures for small claims court including links to a pdf outlining the time requirements for pleading in Oregon.

Pennsylvania

Rhode Island

• The littlest court in the littlest state (We kid, we kid!)  The Rhode Island Judiciary published a guide for small claims, albeit the design is a bit dated.

South Carolina

• Called Magistrates Small Claims Court in South Carolina, their state bar has a page on Small Claims court.

South Dakota

• Second Circuit Court for the South Dakota Justice System publishes a brochure on small claims court procedures.  Keep in mind, the information on logistics is probably only pertinent to the Second Circuit (but similar procedures are probably mirrored throughout the state).

Tennessee

Texas

• Small Claims Court Guide put out by the Southern Methodist University Law School.

Utah

• Utah Small Claims Forms and Instructions published by the Utah Judiciary.

Vermont

• The Vermont Judiciary published an online brochure outlining its small claims court process.

Virginia

• A Virginia guide to small claims court cases authored by the Virginia Courts.

Washington

• Washington State FAQs for small claims cases published by the Washington Attorney General’s Office.

West Virginia

• West Virginia FAQs, not geared specificlly for small claims court cases, but helpful nonetheless for West Virginia cases.

Wisconsin

• Wisconsin Guide to Small Claims (in PDF format) published by the Wisconsin Courts.

Wyoming
