San Mateo County Small Claims Court

All small claims court cases within San Mateo County must be filed at the consolidated small claims clerk’s office located at:

San Mateo County Small Claims Court Advisor

San Mateo County Superior Court offers a small claims advisor to assist with your small claims court case.  The advisor is available the first Wednesday evening of each month from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and Thursdays of following weeks (not the first Thursday) from 2:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M.

A sign-up sheet for the advisor is available for registration one hour prior to the start of the session.  The sheet is located at the security station in the lobby.  This service is limited to the first twelve people that sign up.

The advisor is Attorney Allan Capeloto and will provide you with a ten minute consultation regarding your case along with written materials and information to assist you during the process.

San Mateo Small Claims Court Locations

San Mateo County small claims court cases are heard in three different locations in San Mateo County based on the geographical area the case originates.

Central Branch Small Claims Court

The Central Branch hears cases from the following areas of San Mateo County: Belmont, Burlingame, El Granada, Foster City, Half Moon Bay, Hillsborough, Millbrae, Miramar, Montara, Moss Beach, San Mateo and adjoining unincorporated areas and the S.F. International Airport.  The Northern Branch is located at:

The telephone number for the Central Branch location is (650) 363-4303.  The Northern Branch’s court hearings for small claims court cases are Monday at 1:30 P.M. and Friday at 9:00 A.M.  Night Court is also held here on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 P.M.

Northern Branch Small Claims Court

The Northern Branch hears cases from the following areas: Brisbane, Daly City (including Westlake), Pacifica, San Bruno, So. San Francisco, the northern coastal towns and all unincorporated areas in the northern end of the county, including Colma and Broadmoor.  The Northern Branch is located at:

Southern Branch (Annex) Small Claims Court

The Southern Branch (Annex) hears cases from the following areas: Atherton, Menlo Park, Portola Valley, Redwood City, San Carlos, Woodside, East Palo Alto, and all unincorporated areas including La Honda and the southern coastal area south of Tunitas Creek Road, which includes Pescadero and San Gregorio.  The Southern Branch court is located at:
